Piney Woods Plein Air Paint Out!

The Piney Woods Artist Alliance, which consists of The Boardwalk, Accidental and Wiregrass galleries, hosted a plein air event. Sandi Shaw and Rebecca Hendrix were the principal organizers.

The Boardwalk hosted the lunch, provided by LutieBelle's and mayor, Danny Groover, and Ann McCrickard.

The event will conclude with an art show and sale at Wiregrass Gallery in Thomasville.
Locations in Thomasville and Boston were chosen for their beauty. This is one of three pieces Rich created. It is of an old oak tree in Paradise Park that is a favorite of children for climbing.

One Mile Drawing

For the past month, Rich has been working on a long-term art project. He is creating a mile-long drawing on a paper scroll. The drawing is simply an accumulation of lines. For Rich, it is a meditative process, a way of marking time. There is no specific metaphorical meaning or allusion to the marks. He is performing the gesture and slowly taking the one mile journey.
This is the marked portion of the scroll, so far.
While Rich is drawing, he occasionally records his thoughts. He plans to transcribe the recordings and create a companion book.
He is also collecting the under-sheets that he uses to keep his table surface clean. The build up of marks on the paper create interesting patterns.
